Legendary New Edition will release their groundbreaking album “Heart Break,” on new 2LP clear and black vinyl editions.

Available March 13th via UMG.

“Heart Break” is the fifth studio album by New Edition, originally released in 1988 through MCA Records.

The double platinum album marked a transition to a more mature sound for the group, and a transformative era in R&B as the musical landscape evolved.

It also played a crucial role in launching their solo careers, following the success of five Top 10 R&B hits, “Can You Stand the Rain,” “N.E. Heart Break”, “You’re Not My Kind of Girl,” “Crucial,” and “If It Isn’t Love,” which also peaked at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100.

A re-recorded version of “Boys to Men” was released as a sixth single.

Produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, with New Edition and the late great Jellybean Johnson, the album peaked at #12 on the Billboard 200 chart.

The album was groundbreaking in the genre of R&B with New Jack Swing and lead the way for the new era of boy bands.

“Heart Break” remains a defining moment in New Edition’s career and an enduring influence on the genre.

“Heart Break” was the first album the Boston-reared band recorded as a quintet after the public exit of original member Bobby Brown, and the first album to feature Johnny Gill as a member of the group.
